General Meeting
Hawk’s Nest Homeowner’s Association
January 28, 2008
7:30 pm Dublin Justice Center
Board Members Present: Ali Randall, Kristen Scherer, Emily Preble, Joe Vacarri, Michelle Atkinson, and Patti Drumm
President Update: Meeting called to order and new board members voted in, meeting turned over to new president. Update on website transition—Mike Strange has taken over as new web master and he has converted the site to a new platform. We also have a new e-mail account through yahoo for the association. It is more user friendly.
Welcome Committee Report by President: Recently there have been 2 new rentals moving into the neighborhood and 1 new purchased home. The welcome committee has visited these neighbors and will invite longterm renters to be included in the directory in the future.
Treasurer Report: It was reported that the current post office box number issue has been corrected at the post office due to an accounting error.
The 2008 budget was submitted and is on file in the secretary’s notebook for anyone to see if interested. It was noted that about 65% of our actual budget goes to landscaping, 24% goes to running the homeowner’s association, one of the highest costs being insurance. This was re bid last year and we found that our current rate was $1000 under the best rate we were able to find. About 9% of the budget goes to social functions. The 2008 budget was approved and adopted by all in attendance.
Landscape Report: Things ran very smoothly in 2007 with a lot of hard work from the Landscape Chair. The issue of the lights being out at the Brand Road entrance is still being addressed by outside contractors.
Social Committee Report: The current board has decided that the homeowner’s association will try to sponsor 4 major social events this calendar year. They are: the Easter egg hunt in the park, the Friday night Happy Hours at alternating neighbor’s houses, the Labor Day Party in the Park, and the Holiday Party at the Dublin Recreation Center. Due to the lack of a board member in this capacity we will solicit 5 volunteers for each event via e-mail and word of mouth, prior to each event. The board will already have dates and times and rain dates scheduled, and data from previous years that will be helpful for each item on an event by event basis.
New Business: There was no new business
The meeting was adjourned.
